Butch Gentry
Butch moved to Carteret County from Richmond, Virginia in 1971 and quickly became an active part of the coastal community.
Over the years, he built and operated Crow’s Nest Marina and later served as Owner and President of Carteret Dredging, Inc. He was also involved in local planning efforts as a member of the Atlantic Beach Planning Board.
In 1975, Butch expanded into the boating industry by acquiring a Bertram yacht dealership and establishing Island Cove Yacht Sales, Service, and Brokerage. He remained closely connected to the maritime community and later served as President of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in 1982.
His work extended into construction and development through Gentry Builders, where he was involved in residential and light commercial construction, land development, and property management. He also served as Owner and CEO of Atlantic Poly Steel Distributors and Gentry Concrete Pumping LLC.
In addition to his business career, Butch was committed to serving his community. He served on the board of Camp Albemarle and was a member of First Methodist Church in Morehead City, including service on its Board of Trustees. He also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 130.
Butch attended Old Dominion College and built a life centered on hard work, leadership, and community involvement. His experience and dedication continue to reflect the values of service, mentorship, and commitment that are at the heart of the Crystal Coast Boy Choir.
